This article will guide you through the process of preparing your ANAFI Work for its first flight using the Pix4Dcapture application.
Preparing the drone and updating its firmware
You will need an internet connection to download the application onto your smartphone and to log in for the first time. We advise that you complete these first steps in the office, before going on site.
- Your ANAFI Work drone
- 1 fully-charged battery
- Your Parrot Skycontroller 3, fully-charged
- 1 smartphone
- 1 USB-A cable that is compatible with your smartphone (for example, its charging cable)
IMPORTANT : Your ANAFI and the Parrot Skycontroller 3 will first need to be updated using the FreeFlight 6 application. If you haven't done this step yet, follow these instructions.
Once your ANAFI Work and Parrot Skycontroller 3 have been updated, close FreeFlight 6 and power both the drone and controller off before proceeding to the next step.
Install Pix4Dcapture and its plugin onto your smartphone
- Find Pix4Dcapture on Google Play. Download the app, install it and give it all the permissions it asks for.
- Launch Pix4Dcapture, read the introduction information and tap get started.
- On the log in page, tap LOG IN.
Enter the email and password that you used when you activated your Pix4Dmodel license via my.parrot-business.com. You can also use any other existing Pix4D account.
- Next, select the ANAFI on the list available in Pix4Dcapture then tap ACTIVATE:
You willl be invited to download and install an additional Pix4D plugin called Ctrl+Parrot 2. This plugin is required for the real-time monitoring of the drone. Tap YES, download the app, install it, open it and give it all the permissions it asks for.
After launching Ctrl+Parrot 2, a message might invite your to permit the application to draw over other apps. Tap the switch to grant the permission.
Close Ctrl+Parrot 2 and also Pix4Dcapture before proceeding to the next step.
Correct ANAFI Work to Pix4Dcapture connection sequence
To successfully connect your ANAFI Work to Pix4Dcapture, always follow the steps below:
Start up the various components:
Unfold the ANAFI Work's arms, place it on a flat surface and turn it on by pressing its power button (on the battery).
Unfold the Parrot Skycontroller 3's central arm to switch it on.
Using its charging cable, connect your smartphone to the Parrot Skycontroller 3's USB-A port.
Do not try to log on to the ANAFI network using Wi-Fi.
Once the connection has been established with the Parrot Skycontroller 3, a message will automatically invite you to choose an application.
Either tap Ctrl+Parrot 2 to select it then tap JUST ONCE, or double tap on the Ctrl+Parrot 2 application.
CAUTION : NEVER TAP ALWAYS. This can cause problems when connecting to FreeFlight 6.
If the following message appears, DO NOT select "Use by default for this USB accessory" for any application when connecting the Parrot Skycontroller 3 to your smartphone.
The application Ctrl+Parrot 2 will start displaying the status of your ANAFI's parameters. Once the connection is successfully established, you will see the values for Yaw, Pitch and Roll start to change
Tap on OPEN PIX4DCAPTURE:
Pix4Dcapture opens with the Mission planing page.
You are now ready to start planning a mission and on your way to creating your first 3D model with ANAFI Work.
